Jess founded 'The Gap Bedfordshire Limited' in response to the lack of trauma treatment interventions available within the area of Bedfordshire.
After qualifying as a counsellor in 2014, Jess became more involved in specific trauma work- working with both children and adults. Deciding to become self-employed in 2016, Jess invested a large amount of time into specialised training, attending CPD events and training lead by Dr Bruce Perry, Dr Fran Waters, Dr Carlotta Raby, Dr David Muss and Dr Renee Marks - who Jess co-wrote her first book 'What a Muddle' with.
Jess also trained in the 'Assessment and Treatment of complex trauma and dissociation for children and young people' which now influences the way Jess works and improved her understanding of the neurobiological impact of traumatic experiences. By the beginning of 2017, the diary was filling up and Jess was having to turn potential clients away. It became apparent quite soon that there was nowhere to refer children for trauma treatment therapy.
With a gap in the market and years of experience and training behind her, Jess secured herself a premises in Bedford Town Centre and set up what is now 'The Gap Bedfordshire Limited'.
'By the beginning of 2017, my diary was full and I was having to turn potential clients away. It was also very apparent that I had nowhere to refer children for trauma treatment therapy.
This was when I decided that somehow, we needed a service in the area that could provide this treatment and after many viewings I finally found a self contained premises in Bedford Town Centre.
